The Race

161km5,500m gainsingletrackforestalpinepoint-to-pointhigh-altitude

The world's oldest 100-mile trail race. Running from Squaw Valley to Auburn through the Sierra Nevada, Western States has shaped ultrarunning culture since 1977. Its lottery-only entry, fierce competition, and the iconic finish line at Placer High School track make it the most coveted single-stage 100-miler on the planet.
