About
Yngvild Kaspersen is a Norwegian trail and mountain runner from Ålesund who left a promising football career to pursue running, and has since established herself as one of the most decorated women in the sport — while simultaneously maintaining a full career as a doctor. Born in 1995, she broke through at the elite level with startling speed: Zegama-Aizkorri winner and double Marathon du Mont-Blanc champion, all before the age of 22. After navigating burnout in 2018 and a hip fracture in 2021, she returned in full at the 2023 CCC by UTMB, winning the 101-kilometre Alpine traverse. In 2024 she finished fifth at Western States 100, arriving at the race in the days after a car accident and producing one of the major performances of her career. At her peak ranked third among female trail runners in the world, Kaspersen manages hospital night shifts alongside training blocks that would challenge full-time professionals, making her one of the most admired figures in the global trail running community.
