Privacy Policy

Crewed is a trail and ultra running fan app built by an independent developer. This policy explains what data is collected when you use the Crewed mobile app and this website, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.

What we collect

Push notification tokens

If you enable push notifications, your device's Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token is stored so we can send you race alerts and updates. This token is a random identifier tied to your device — it does not contain your name, email address, or any other personal information. You can revoke notification permission at any time through your device settings, which will stop any further token use.

Anonymous usage analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used — for example, which screens are visited most, how long sessions last, and which features are used. This data is aggregated and anonymous. It is used solely to improve the app. We do not use it for advertising purposes.

Crash reports

Firebase Crashlytics automatically collects diagnostic information when the app crashes, including device model, OS version, and a stack trace of the error. No personal information is included in crash reports.

Account data

Creating an account is optional for browsing race and athlete content, but required for community features such as race chat, predictions, and stoking articles. When you create an account, we store your email address and, if you provide one, a display name. This data is used solely to identify you within the app and is not shared with third parties for marketing or advertising.

GPS and location data

The optional Runner Mode feature can record GPS tracks when you start a tracked run. Location data is only collected when you actively start a run session and grant the app location permission. GPS data is stored in your account and is not shared with any third party. You can delete your run history at any time from within the app.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your phone number, payment card details, or any biometric data. We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Third-party services

Crewed relies on the following third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:

• Supabase — our backend database provider. Race data, athlete profiles, community content, and account data (email, display name, FCM token) are stored in Supabase. Data is hosted in the EU (Ireland).
• Firebase (Google) — used for push notifications (FCM), usage analytics (Firebase Analytics), and crash reporting (Crashlytics). Subject to Google's privacy policy.
• Payment processor — if you subscribe to Crew+, payments are handled by a third-party payment processor. Crewed never sees or stores your payment card details. Subject to the payment processor's own privacy policy.

Data retention & deletion

Account data (email, display name, FCM token, run history) is retained for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time via Settings → Delete Account in the app. Account deletion requests are processed immediately.

FCM tokens are also retired automatically by Firebase if you uninstall the app or revoke notification permission.

Analytics and crash report data are retained according to Firebase's default retention schedules (typically 2 months for events, 90 days for crash data). These cannot be individually deleted as they are anonymised.

Children

Crewed is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted with an updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
