About

Tracen Knopp is an American trail runner from Anchorage, Alaska who has emerged rapidly as one of the country's most competitive men at the 100km mountain ultra distance, with a series of breakthrough results spanning the UTMB World Series, major domestic qualifier races, and international championship selection. Training on Alaska's demanding high-latitude terrain, he qualified for Team USA at the 2025 World Mountain and Trail Running Championships — Long Trail in Canfranc, Spain, by placing second at the Gorge Waterfalls 100k in Oregon in April 2025 (8:05:16, breaking the course record) behind only Adam Peterman in a race that doubled as the primary national team qualifier. Later that summer he competed on the European circuit and finished second at the 2025 Eiger Ultra Trail E101 in 7:21 — on the weather-modified course above Grindelwald in the Swiss Bernese Oberland — before opening 2026 with third place at the Black Canyon 100k (7:26:45), earning a Golden Ticket to the Western States 100. With podium results across domestic and international events and two consecutive Golden Ticket or championship selections in a single year, Knopp is one of Alaska's most accomplished ultra performers and among the most promising American men on the current international mountain ultra circuit.
