About
Thomas Cardin is a French trail runner born on February 9, 1995, in Paris and raised in Grenoble, who discovered competitive swimming before transitioning to running and trail during his student years, joining the Taillefer Trail Team in the Grenoble area. A Kiprun-sponsored athlete, he rose through national trail competition before delivering a landmark 2024 season: European Trail Champion in Annecy and winner of the Grand Trail des Templiers (6:38:14), one of France’s most storied trail races. He also won the Sainté-Lyon, the legendary mid-winter road and trail race from Saint-Étienne to Lyon. He has contributed to France’s team medals at the Trail World Championships in 2022 (silver) and 2023 (bronze). In 2026 he confirmed his progression to the international elite with a win at the Chianti Ultra Trail by UTMB 120km (9:58:38), pulling away from Andreas Reiterer and Vincent Bouillard in the second half of the race. A former swimmer turned mountain trail specialist, Cardin reflects the deep pool of French distance running talent that has been converting to trail over the past decade.
