Yoshikazu Hara is a Japanese physician and ultrarunner who began competitive running at Kyoto University's college athletics club before completing medical school and going on to practise medicine while maintaining an elite competitive career. In 2012 he ran a road 100km in 6:33, the third-fastest time in the world that year, earning selection to Japan's IAU World Championship team. In 2013 he produced the standout result of his career at the inaugural Ultra-Trail Mount Fuji (UTMF) — a 161 km course with 9,000 m of elevation gain on the flanks of Japan's highest peak — winning in 19 hours 39 minutes and defeating a celebrated international field including Julien Chorier and Sébastien Chaigneau. He has also competed at UTMB and at the Tarawera Ultramarathon in New Zealand.
