About
Yoshihiko Ishikawa is a Japanese ultrarunner born in 1983 in Tokushima Prefecture who completed his first full marathon at age 20 and won his first 100km race at 24. He has since become one of the most decorated multi-discipline ultra performers of his generation, ranking globally in the top three for the 24-hour event on three separate occasions. In 2019 he set a course record at Badwater 135 of 21:33:01 — one of the fastest times ever run on the 217-mile Death Valley course — and in 2022 he returned to win Badwater again in 23:08:20, running negative splits. The same year he won the 245 km Spartathlon in Greece in 22:54:40. He was named IAU Athlete of the Year in 2017. He has also competed at Ultra-Trail Mt. Fuji.
