About

Victor Richard is a French ultra-distance trail runner born in Reims in the Champagne region who discovered long-distance running during his student years in the Liège area of Belgium, and has since established himself as one of the pre-eminent specialists in the world at formats exceeding 300 kilometres. He divides his time between Passy in Haute-Savoie and Belgium — home of his partner — and outside of racing founded Ultratiming, a well-regarded race timing and chronometry company operating across the Belgian and broader European trail circuit. Richard's 2024 season announced his potential: he won the SwissPeaks 660km, a double crossing of the Swiss Alps involving 49,000 metres of elevation gain — one of the most demanding cumulative totals on the European ultra calendar — and dominated the Montreux Trail Festival. He confirmed his status in September 2025 at the Tor des Géants, the 335-kilometre, 28,000-metre Aosta Valley classic: Richard crossed the line in a new course record of 66:08:22, sleeping just ninety minutes across three full days of racing. The performance was immediately recognised as one of the defining results in the history of the event and established Richard as the benchmark for multi-day mountain racing in the current generation.
