About
Tòfol Castanyer Bernat is a Spanish trail and mountain runner born in 1972 in Sóller, Mallorca, at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana range he began exploring with his family at age five. He built a career that placed him among Spain's most internationally decorated mountain athletes: in 2010 he was crowned Skyrunning World Champion in Malaysia, and in 2012 he won the CCC by UTMB. He finished 2nd at the full UTMB in 2014 and won multiple major races including Transvulcania and Ice Trail Tarentaise, while placing 2nd at the IAU Trail World Championships. Outside running he manages three outdoor shops in Sóller with his brother, a business his father opened on the day Tòfol was born. Now in his 50s he continues competing at the elite level as a sponsored athlete with NNormal, the trail gear brand co-founded by Kilian Jornet.
