Tirtha Bahadur Tamang is one of Nepal's most prolific mountain and trail runners, born in 1987. Competing as a member of the Nepali Army Team, he excels at high-altitude and technical trail races across Asia and the world. His most notable international result came in 2014 when he won the Vibram Hong Kong 100 — the opening event of the inaugural Ultra-Trail World Tour — covering 100 km and 4,500 m of elevation gain in 10:01:53, moving past race leader Dave Mackey in the closing stages. He is also a five-time winner of the Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon 70K, the world's highest-altitude ultra race, completing it in times under nine hours. Tamang has competed at more than 20 international ultramarathon events spanning over 1,500 km of competition.
