About

Tim Tollefson is an American ultrarunner and doctor of physical therapy born on March 13, 1985, in Rocklin, California. A two-time U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier and former collegiate steeplechase champion, he transitioned to trail and ultra racing in 2014 by immediately winning the USATF 50K Trail National Championship in course-record fashion. He is best known for back-to-back third-place finishes at UTMB Mont-Blanc in 2016 and 2017 — among the last American men to podium at the race — and has also won the Ultra Trail Australia 100K and the Lavaredo Ultra Trail 120K. Based in Mammoth Lakes, California, Tollefson is also a prominent mental health advocate who has spoken openly about his experiences with an eating disorder and body dysmorphia.
