Tim Freriks is an American ultrarunner and registered nurse born on November 23, 1990, in Cottonwood, Arizona. A former standout cross-country runner at Northern Arizona University, he burst onto the ultrarunning scene in 2016 with a runner-up finish at the Lake Sonoma 50 Mile before a breakthrough 2017 season in which he won the Transvulcania 73K in the Canary Islands, claimed the North Face Endurance Challenge 50 Mile championship, and set the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim fastest known time at 2:39:38 — the fastest crossing in history at the time. Named runner-up North American Ultra Runner of the Year in 2017, he is known for his road-speed-meets-mountain-strength racing style and ability to perform across a wide range of ultra-trail distances.
