About
Théo Detienne was born on 9 February 1999 in Paris and grew up in Saint-Cyprien, where he practised athletics and triathlon before discovering trail running at 17 while studying STAPS in Font-Romeu. In 2018 he won the French Under-20 Mountain Running Championship and was selected for European and World junior championships (10th place). He entered gendarmerie school in 2022 with ambitions of joining the Mountain Gendarmerie Unit (PGHM), but in 2025 suspended his military career to pursue professional trail running full time with Team New Balance. His race results have been spectacular: he won the Trail Alsace Grand Est UTMB 100K in 2024 and the 90 km Marathon du Mont-Blanc in 2025. He is widely considered one of France's brightest ultra prospects, with a growing global following.
