About
Sylvia Nordskar is a Norwegian trail runner and former cross-country skier who grew up competing in Nordic skiing at a high level in Norway, attended a specialised skiing high school, and received an athletic scholarship to Denver University in the United States, where she competed on the ski team. Following university she transitioned to trail running as a more compatible sport while building her career, before making the leap into professional running in 2023 after relocating to Chamonix to focus fully on mountain racing. She ran her first trail race in 2017 and her first 100k in 2018 at the Xreid Jotunheimen, and her improvement since has been steep: in 2024 she won the prestigious Zegama-Aizkorri marathon in Spain, one of the most competitive short-mountain races in the world; and in 2025 she finished a remarkable second at CCC by UTMB, losing by just 18 seconds to Martyna Młynarczyk after racing all the way to the finish line. With a UTMB Index of 805 and ranked 7th in the world at the 100km distance, she competes for Team Hoka EU and is one of Norway's most exciting talents in mountain trail running.
