Steve Speirs is a Welsh-born ultrarunner whose running life began in 1982 when his rugby coach persuaded him to enter the Barry Half Marathon in Wales, launching more than four decades of competitive long-distance racing. He moved to the United States in 2011 and built a strong record in the American ultra scene, accumulating more than 70 finishes in the UltraRunning Magazine results database. His personal bests include 15:26:25 for the 100-mile distance and 140.47 miles in the 24-hour format. Notable results include 4th overall and 1st Masters at the Rocky Raccoon 100 in 2014, 3rd overall at the Seashore Nature Trail 50K in 2018, and a ranking among the top UK 50-mile performers in 2015.
