About
Sonia Ahuja is an Indian-American ultrarunner who took up running at the age of 38 in 2014 and within a decade became one of the most decorated women in extreme ultra-distance racing. She completed her first marathon in under four hours that year, progressed to 80km racing in 2018, and by 2020 was competing at 161km. The results that followed were extraordinary: in October 2022 she won the Miami 100 outright — overall champion across both men and women, finishing more than an hour ahead of the three-time male champion; in January 2023 she broke the course record at the Brazil 135 as the fastest female ever on the course and the top international runner; and in July 2023 she became the first Indian-origin woman to complete and podium at the Badwater 135, finishing 2nd fastest woman and 4th overall in 25:42. Also a certified Les Mills BODYPUMP instructor, Ahuja represents the remarkable potential of athletes who come to competition later in life and build steadily through commitment and resilience.
