Sondre Amdahl

About

Sondre Amdahl is a Norwegian trail runner and running coach based in Trysil who built his athletic career alongside a professional life in sales, marketing, and travel — including an MBA from Bond University in Australia. A former competitive Telemark skier for Norway, he ran his first ultramarathon in 2003 and began racing more seriously in 2011, becoming one of the strongest Norwegian voices in the global ultra running scene. His results across the sport's biggest events are exceptional in their breadth: a 7th-place finish at UTMB, 2nd at Hong Kong 100 in 2015, 15th at Western States Endurance Run, 4th at Ultra-Trail Mount Fuji, and 9th at the Marathon des Sables, alongside outright wins at the Jungle Ultra in Peru and Scotland's Highland Fling. After spending a year living on Gran Canaria in 2014–15, where he explored every inch of trail and raced the Transgrancanaria 125, he has focused increasingly on coaching through Kompass Trails. He is married to Swedish ultrarunner Elisabet Barnes and has two daughters.
