About
Simona Morbelli is an Italian trail ultrarunner based in Courmayeur at the foot of Mont Blanc, where mountain terrain is both her playground and training ground. With degrees in Economics and Commerce and a master's in Communication and Public Relations, she began a career in investment banking, living between the United States and Europe, before her passion for the mountains drew her fully into elite trail running. An alpinist, rock climber, and freeride enthusiast who has collected many of the 4,000-metre peaks of the Alps, she began racing at ultra distances in 2012 and quickly established herself internationally, joining the Salomon team in 2013 and wearing the Italian national team jersey at multiple Trail Running World Championships. Her performance at the Leadville Trail 100 was groundbreaking: on her first attempt at the 100-mile distance, she finished second in 21:16:22, becoming the first Italian woman to podium at an American 100-mile race. She has also won the 100km Tor des Châteaux. In 2019 she co-founded a trail running sports consulting service with Fulvio Massa and served as Team Manager for the Dinamo professional trail running team.
