About

Sean Nakamura is an American ultrarunner from San Diego, California, best known as the fourth person in history to complete the Great Eight — a challenge requiring a finisher's buckle at each of ultrarunning's eight original 100-mile races: Western States 100, Vermont 100, Wasatch Front 100, Leadville 100, Angeles Crest 100, Mohican 100, Old Dominion 100, and the Arkansas Traveller 100. Nakamura completed the final buckle in 2019, becoming the challenge's most recent finisher and the first to do so in over two decades. His racing résumé spans more than 60 100-mile finishes, 16 races at 200 miles or longer, and upwards of 100 ultras in total, including victories at the 2017 Tahoe 200 Mile and the Moab 240. He has maintained a daily running streak exceeding 4,600 consecutive days as of 2026 — more than twelve years of uninterrupted daily running. A plant-based athlete, rabbit brand ambassador, and Director of IT by profession, Nakamura represents the high-volume, amateur-elite tradition of American ultrarunning: racing far and often, without professional support, purely for love of the distance.
