About
Ryan Kaiser is an American trail and ultrarunner and attorney based in Bend, Oregon, who built one of the more impressive résumés on the Pacific Northwest ultra circuit before posting key results at the sport's biggest North American events. He won the Mt. Hood 50 mile, the Tillamook Burn 50 mile, and the Gorge Waterfalls 50K, and earned a Golden Ticket to the Western States 100 with a victory at the Sean O'Brien 100K. He finished 11th at the Western States 100 in 2015, placed fifth at the notoriously demanding Hardrock 100 in 2016, and third at the Javelina Jundred that same year. He added the Idaho Mountain Trail Ultra Festival (IMTUF) win in 2019. His career is notable for being built alongside a professional legal career — he opened his own law firm in 2016 — and is representative of a cohort of elite North American trail runners who compete at the sport's highest level without full-time professional sponsorship.
