About

Robyn Owen (née Kime) is a South African multisport athlete, adventure racer, and trail runner from Stellenbosch who has represented South Africa at world championship level in canoeing, mountain running, and adventure racing. Growing up in Pietermaritzburg before relocating to the Western Cape, she built a career that blends high-level technical paddling with mountain trail running. Her most significant trail result is an outright win and massive course record at the Otter Trail Retto (4:49:45, smashing the previous women's mark of 5:11:46), and she is the first South African woman to complete the Ultra-Trail Cape Town 100km. In adventure racing she was part of a team that finished fourth from 96 international squads at the Adventure Racing World Championships in Shoalhaven, Australia in 2016, and in 2017 she placed second female overall at the Kathmandu Coast to Coast World Multisport Championship in New Zealand (243km in 13:29:21), winning both the fastest run and fastest paddle trophies. A Jeep Team South Africa ambassador, she is one of the most complete women in South African endurance sport.
