About
Nguyễn Tiến Hùng is a Vietnamese trail runner from Phú Thọ province in northern Vietnam who came to the sport through an unlikely route: a 20-year football career ended abruptly in 2015 when he injured his right ankle, and recovery-induced weight gain prompted him to begin running. Within just two years he had become one of Vietnam's top ultra competitors. He won the Vietnam Mountain Marathon 100km in both 2018 and 2019, becoming the first runner to win the race consecutively and setting a new course record of 14:33:45. He went on to compete internationally and at HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc 2025, and at his peak held a UTMB Index of 745. An Adidas Runner team member, he is one of Vietnam's most recognised trail ambassadors.
