About

Neil Kirby is a British ultrarunner based in Eastbourne, East Sussex, who came to the sport from a football background and began competing in long-distance running seriously in his late twenties. He developed into one of the most consistent performers on the UK ultra circuit, particularly on the South Downs and North Downs trails, winning both the South Downs Way 50 and 100-mile races and both the North Downs Way 50 and 100-mile races, as well as the Race to the Stones. In 2018 he channelled his passion into the sport's infrastructure by founding UK Ultra, a race organisation dedicated to producing quality events on the South Downs. He is also a speaker, coach, and author, and continues to compete at a high level while building UK Ultra into one of Britain's leading race series.
