About
Miguel Arsénio is a Portuguese trail runner born on November 22, 1996, in Almeirim on the banks of the Tagus River who grew up as a mountain biker from age ten before discovering trail running in 2019 while working in a metalworking shop assembling window frames. He joined the Trilho Perdido Trail Team as an amateur and rose quickly through the national ranks, becoming the Portuguese national trail ultra champion on multiple occasions and reaching an ITRA world ranking of 31st overall and first in Portugal. In 2024 he signed a three-year professional contract with the Spanish SportHG–AML Sport team at 27 — the validation of a self-made elite career built around factory shifts and mountain training. His international résumé includes second at Transgrancanaria Classic 128k (2023), second at Ultra-Trail Cape Town 100k (2024), and second at MIUT Madeira Island Ultra-Trail (2025), establishing him as one of the most consistent Portuguese mountain ultra performers on the world stage.
