Michael Carson is an American trail runner and content creator best known as a core member of Mountain Outpost, the cult-favourite ultrarunning comedy series he co-created with Jamil Coury and Schuyler Hall in 2016. As the team's videographer and graphic artist, Carson brought an irreverent style to trail running media — mixing Muzak soundtracks with pop-culture graphics and deadpan commentary — that earned Mountain Outpost a devoted following within the sport and was described by Trail Runner Magazine as 'the jackass of ultrarunning.' Beyond his role behind the camera, Carson is an active ultrarunner himself, competing on the trails of the American Southwest. He describes his mission in the sport as showing that running can be fun and joyful rather than relentlessly serious, a philosophy that resonates across Mountain Outpost's broad audience.
