About

Micah Morgan is an American ultrarunner and full-time nurse practitioner from Cahaba Heights, Alabama, whose path to elite racing was anything but conventional. A multi-sport athlete in her youth — running cross country in seventh grade, playing volleyball and softball, and competing on her college track team — she returned to distance running as an adult. After watching a documentary on the Badwater 135, the 135-mile ultramarathon from Death Valley to the portal of Mt. Whitney, she quietly resolved that she would one day run it. Her husband Cary Morgan, a physical therapist and owner of Cadence Run Coaching, eventually signed her up for her first ultra in her sleep, and she quickly discovered her calling at the extreme distances. She won Badwater Cape Fear in March 2017, which automatically qualified her for the Badwater 135 itself. In July 2018, she completed the Badwater 135 in 30 hours and 9 minutes, finishing third in the female division and ninth overall in the full field — a result that confirmed her as an elite competitor at one of the sport's most iconic events. Morgan continues to balance a demanding clinical career with competitive ultrarunning.
