About
Maud Gobert is a French trail runner born April 25, 1977, in Douai, northern France, who became the women's IAU Trail World Champion in 2011 and is one of the most decorated French trail runners of her generation. Moving to the Savoie region as a child, she grew up as a multi-sport mountain athlete — competing in cross-country skiing, snowboard, freeride, and skicross — before a pregnancy and injury brought her back to running. Her athletic resurgence culminated in a world title at the 2011 IAU Trail World Championships in Connemara, Ireland, establishing her as the benchmark for French women's trail running of the era. She won the CCC, the Festival des Templiers twice (2009 and 2011), the SaintéLyon twice (2013 and 2014), the 6000D twice (2012 and 2014), the Mont Blanc Marathon, and the Swiss Alpine Marathon, among many other titles. A ski instructor and mountain guide based in Valloire in the Savoie, she is the mother of three daughters. Her career is widely regarded as exemplary for combining elite competitive performance with a full, rooted life in the mountains.
