About

Maud Combarieu is a French mathematics teacher and trail runner who grew up in Provence and spent eight years living on the island of Réunion, where she first fell in love with trail running in 2010. Her first major victory came at the Trail de Bourbon as part of the Grand Raid de la Réunion that same year, and she quickly established herself as a versatile mountain competitor across distances from 50K to 100+ miles. Returning to metropolitan France and settling in the Basque Country, she continued to build a remarkable palmarès spanning more than 15 years of competitive racing. She won the Restonica Trail in 2012, placed second at the CCC that same year, won the Grand Raid des Pyrénées 80km in 2013, and claimed the GRP title again in 2019. Approaching 47 years old, Combarieu is widely admired for her longevity, cheerful personality, and globe-trotting appetite for racing, earning the nickname 'globe-trotteuse' in the French trail community. She embodies the idea that trail running can be practiced joyfully and competitively for a lifetime.
