Matt Crehan is an Australian trail and ultrarunner from Victoria, widely regarded as one of the most consistent elite performers on the Australian circuit. A horticulturalist by trade, he discovered trail running during a university field trip to New Zealand's South Island in 2015, transitioning from a triathlon background to become one of Australia's leading ultra competitors. Named Australian Male Ultra Runner of the Year by AURA in 2022 — having won 6 of 7 events in 2021 — his standout results include the Brisbane Trail Ultra 100 Mile in 2021 (the first sub-20-hour performance on the Spartan Trail World Championship course), wins at the Alpine Challenge Miler, Margaret River Ultra, and multiple victories at the Cradle Mountain Run 80k (2023, 2024), and the Buffalo Stampede 100km (2023). He has represented and captained the Australian trail running team at the 2023 World Mountain and Trail Running Championships (75th), and finished 79th at the 2024 UTMB Mont-Blanc (UTMB Index 797).
