About
Marco Bonfiglio is an Italian ultrarunner born September 2, 1977 in Magenta, Lombardy, who began running in 2003 and has since completed over 300 marathons and ultramarathons, averaging approximately 8,000 kilometres in training and 32-35 race starts each year. He is among the most prolific Italian performers at the world's most extreme road ultramarathon distances. His résumé includes 2nd overall at the Badwater 135 in Death Valley (26 hours 1 minute), three Spartathlon finishes including 4th overall in 26 hours 1 minute in 2014, and victory at the Athens-Sparta-Athens — a gruelling 490-kilometre return journey between the two ancient Greek cities — completed in approximately 78 hours. On home soil he won the 100 km di Asolo (Italian hillside 100K national championship) and the Nove Colli Running (Italian ultramarathon championship), both in 2018. He also set a world record at the Orta 10-in-10 event, completing ten marathons in ten consecutive days for a combined total of 421 kilometres in 30 hours, 2 minutes and 1 second.
