About

Ludovic Pommeret (born 1975) is a French ultrarunner and computer science engineer from Savoie who has mounted the strongest possible argument that ultra performance can peak well into middle age. He came to distance running through a background in ski mountaineering and began racing mountain ultras in his mid-twenties, building steadily over two decades into one of the sport's most respected and durable figures. His global breakthrough came at the 2016 UTMB Mont-Blanc, which he won; he went on to claim the Grand Raid de la Réunion - Diagonale des Fous in 2021 and the TDS by UTMB in 2022. But it is his Hardrock 100 dominance, beginning at the age of 48, that has cemented his legacy. In 2024, competing in only his first Hardrock start after five years in the lottery, he broke the clockwise men's course record in 21:33:06 — three minutes faster than Kilian Jornet's 2022 mark — the oldest person in history to set the record. He returned in 2025, now 49 years old, to win the counterclockwise edition in 22:21, the fifth-fastest time in Hardrock's 35-year history. A Julbo and Compressport-supported athlete who still works as an engineer, Pommeret continues to redefine what the sport believes is possible as an athlete ages.
