About

Louison Coiffet is a French trail runner from the Grenoble region who trained as a physiotherapist before dedicating himself fully to professional running on January 1, 2025. One of the most versatile mountain athletes in France, he can compete at the highest level across vertical kilometer races, mountain marathons, and 100km trail events in the same season — a breadth that places him in an elite category of all-terrain runners. In 2023 he finished second on the 90km Mont-Blanc race and second at France’s mountain running vertical kilometer championships. His 2024 season was exceptional: wins at the Grand Raid des Écrins, the Trail du Bourbon (100km, 6,090m, 12:27), the Restonica Trail 100km, and the KV des Lacs d’Orcieres. At the 2025 Trail World Championships at Canfranc he placed third in the long distance race (81.2km, 5,413m) behind Jim Walmsley and Benjamin Roubiol, helping France claim team gold. A Salomon athlete who trains approximately 1,100 hours annually including significant winter ski touring, Coiffet represents a generation of French runners who build mountain literacy through year-round engagement with alpine terrain.
