About
Lou Clifton is an Australian trail and ultrarunner based in Mount Victoria in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, where she works as a Visitor Experience team leader at NSW National Parks & Wildlife. Originally from the United Kingdom, she relocated to Australia in 2006, drawn initially by rock climbing, and settled in the Blue Mountains. Trail running entered her life when she entered The North Face 50 in 2015, finishing in the top 10 women on debut, and from that point the sport gradually took over her life. She has since competed in more than 45 ultras, finishing in the top 10 in the vast majority of them. A two-time Australian trail running representative and Australian masters representative, she holds multiple Australian female age-group records. Her standout international results include 2nd female at the Ultra Trail Mount Fuji 2019 — 167 kilometres with 8,000 metres of ascent, completed in 25 hours 50 minutes on just her second 100-mile race start — and 1st female with a course record at the Ultra-Trail Cappadocia. She placed 3rd overall at Ultra-Trail Australia by UTMB in 2017 and has also won her age group (50-54) at UTMB. She is ranked in the ITRA top 10 in the world for her age group.
