About
Lisa DeVona is an American ultrarunner and personal trainer based in South Florida, recognizable on start lines for her distinctive purple ponytail. She came to running as an adult, beginning with two-minute running intervals before building systematically to elite ultramarathon performance. She debuted in the Badwater Ultramarathon Series in 2019, first at the Cape Fear 51.4M and then the Badwater Salton Sea 81M — where she finished alone after her teammate was forced to withdraw with heat stroke — before taking 3rd woman at her inaugural Badwater 135 in July 2019 in 32:36. In November that year she set a 48-hour personal record of 203.76 miles at Icarus Ultrafest in Florida, a result that placed her among the top North American athletes at that distance and automatically qualified her for the Spartathlon. Two weeks later she placed 2nd female at the Daytona 100, running a 100-mile PB of 18:17. A Spartathlon finisher and multiple Ironman triathlon finisher, she trains through early-morning runs and beach tire pulls in the Florida heat. She is the mother of two sons and credits her husband Scott and family support as central to her athletic career.
