Chi, 35, grew up in Shandong Province and worked for years in a local tax bureau before relocating to Beijing in 2016 to work in the sports industry. Her transition to competitive trail running began in earnest in 2024, when she established a high-altitude training camp in Kunming to prepare for international races. Results followed quickly: she placed 5th at HK100 in 2025, then 3rd in 2026, and won the women's race at Mt Gaoligong Ultra 168km in 2026. Making the HK100 podium within two years of serious competition marks her as one of the most rapidly developing talents in Chinese ultra running.
