About
Laura Swanton Rouvelin is one of the most decorated British ultrarunners of her generation — a Devon-based NHS advanced practice breast radiographer, running coach, and mother of three who took up running in 2008 after the birth of her second child. Her entry into ultras in 2017, navigated as a single parent to three young children while studying full time at university, was remarkable; within a year she had swept the Centurion 100-Mile Grand Slam, winning the overall women's series and placing third across all four 100-mile events. The wins then accumulated: the Arc of Attrition 100 Mile along the Cornish coast, the Autumn 100, the Devon Coast to Coast, and course records at the Chiltern Wonderland 50, Thames Trot 50, and Butcombe Trail 56. She has twice finished on the podium at the legendary Spine Race — 4th female in the brutal 268-mile winter edition in 2022 and 2nd in the summer 2023 edition. She then completed the Hardmoors 200 in 57 hours and 48 minutes, finishing 1st female and 4th overall, becoming only the fourth woman in the race's history to complete it within the strict 60-hour cut-off. She also won the GB Ultras Hope24 overall — not just the women's race — setting a new course record of 120 miles. Swanton Rouvelin balances her NHS career, a coaching business, and family life with a pony and many animals in the Devon countryside.
