Laura Hansen is an American trail and ultrarunner from Rochester, New York, who relocated to Mill Valley, California in November 2021, trading the Northeast for the trails of the Marin Headlands. A NOLS instructor, backpacking guide, and business development professional, she embodies the outdoor-lifestyle athlete who pursues racing at the highest level while building a full life in the mountains. Her breakthrough result came at the 2022 Midstate Massive Ultra Trail 100 Mile in Massachusetts, which she won. In 2024 she ran the High Lonesome 100 in Colorado in 23:06, placing second in the women's field in a time within range of the course record — a performance that announced her arrival on the elite American scene. She carried that form into 2025, finishing 14th in the women's race at UTMB Mont-Blanc in 27:43:53, competing against one of the deepest international women's fields in the event's history. Her UTMB Index of 733, accumulated across the 100K and 100M distances, reflects consistent performance at the top of the sport.
