About
Juan Moran is an American trail ultrarunner and veteran of the United States Air Force's Combat Control Teams — an elite Special Operations unit that trains combat controllers to operate in the most demanding environments on earth. A father of three with a long-standing marriage, Moran has channelled the physical discipline and resilience of military service into competitive ultrarunning, competing across the full range of U.S. trail distances from 30km to 100 miles. He won the Tunnel Hill 100 Mile in Illinois in 2016 and placed fourth at the Leadville Trail 100 in 2017 among 287 finishers — one of the most competitive 100-mile fields in American ultra-trail racing. His results reflect the consistency and determination of someone forged in special operations, competing as a master athlete while balancing family life and a post-military career.
