About

Johanna Antila (born May 16, 1980) is a Finnish trail and ultrarunner who transitioned from a track and field background to become the most accomplished Finnish woman on the international trail ultra circuit. She made history in 2025 as the first Finnish woman to finish the Western States 100, placing twelfth in 19:13:16 — a milestone celebrated widely in Finland and a testament to the level of preparation she has brought to the world's oldest and most prestigious 100-mile race. Her résumé across multiple formats and terrain types is comprehensive: she placed second at the Transgrancanaria 85k in 2023, tenth at the CCC by UTMB and second at the Lavaredo Ultra Trail 80k in 2022, seventeenth at UTMB in 2024, second at the Chianti Ultra Trail by UTMB 120k in 2025, and sixth at La Diagonale des Fous in 2025 — one of the most demanding grand raid events in the world. A consistent podium finisher across race lengths from 80km to 175km, Antila has become Finland's most prominent ambassador in international mountain running.
