Joe Steward is a British mountain runner from Salford who has risen to become one of the UK's very best in the short-course and vertical mountain running disciplines. He has been living and training in Austria for several years, a base that has given him access to the Alpine terrain needed to compete at the world's highest levels. He won the Challenge Stellina mountain race in Italy, the Sky Gran Canaria (Skyrunner World Series) in 2023, and has represented Great Britain in multiple championship mountain running events. He is one of England Athletics' standout names in mountain and trail running, combining outstanding technical mountain ability with the aerobic power honed across years of high-altitude training.
