About
Jeff Rome is an American ultrarunner and doctor of physical therapy based in Silverton, Colorado — a town he chose deliberately so he would never need to travel far for the Hardrock 100 Endurance Run, the centrepiece of his competitive career. He began running around 2010 when a college friend suggested marathon training, completed his first 100-miler at the Bear 100 in 2012 as a Hardrock lottery qualifier, and later studied physical therapy in Livingston, Montana, where he met Nikki Kimball. Rome has established himself as one of the most consistent Hardrock performers on the circuit, completing the race four times — 2017 (7th), 2018 (2nd, 26:34:33), 2024 (4th, 26:30:52), and 2025 (8th, 26:22:38) — with three sub-27-hour finishes. His 2018 performance, a more than two-hour improvement on his previous Hardrock time, remains his finest race result. Outside Hardrock, he has won the Bear 100, the Pikes Peak Marathon Double (2019), and The Rut VK and Trifecta (2018 and 2019), and holds FKTs including Mt. Borah, Idaho (2:06:17). A 5:00 mile, 1:16 half marathon, and 2:46 marathon personal best underpin the speed behind his mountain résumé. He combines training with coaching through Team RunRun and works full-time for the Town of Silverton.
