Jeff Pelletier is a Canadian trail runner and documentary filmmaker from Vancouver who began running at 27 — an age, he noted drily, when people say you should be at your physical peak, though he was far from feeling it — and has since built a dual career as a Salomon Canada athlete and one of trail running's most thoughtful storytellers. After years running a production agency, he stepped back from client work to focus on his own films: long-form documentary series that chronicle endurance sport from the inside rather than from the front of the race. His films include Softrock, a documentary on the Hardrock 100 course and culture, Racing Namibia, a nine-part series on a Saharan stage race, and a widely shared personal film about his 2022 UTMB experience from the mid-pack perspective. As an athlete he competes from 50km to over 240 miles internationally, racing alongside the same athletes he documents and giving his filmmaking an authenticity that professional production crews rarely achieve.
