Jeff Garmire is a Bozeman-based FKT specialist, author, coach, and podcast host known throughout the trail world by his trail name 'Legend', earned on the Pacific Crest Trail. In 2016 he completed the Triple Crown of long trails (AT, PCT, CDT) in a record-setting 252 days. He has since built one of the most comprehensive FKT résumés in the sport: the Arizona Trail (self-supported, 15d 13h, 2019), the John Muir Trail, the Colorado Trail, the Continental Divide Trail, and in September 2025 the Appalachian Trail self-supported record — 45 days 8 hours 37 minutes, narrowly edging out Joe McConaughy's 2017 mark. During his AT attempt he raised $32,000 for The Trevor Project, an LGBTQ+ youth suicide-prevention charity. He writes and hosts the Free Outside podcast from Montana.
