About
Ildikó Wermescher is a Hungarian trail runner based near Munich, Germany, who began running at age 23 and has built a career spanning more than two decades that has made her one of the most accomplished Hungarian women in European mountain ultra racing. Her early career included road ultra competition — she participated in the 100km World Championships in the Netherlands in both 2008 and 2009 — before representing Hungary at the 2009 Trail World Championships prompted her to pivot exclusively to trail. Known for exceptional descending ability and a disciplined race management style — she paces conservatively and moves through the field in the second half — she reached seventh place at the 2018 UTMB Mont-Blanc in one of the finest results ever recorded by a Hungarian woman at that event. She has continued to race UTMB Mont-Blanc into her forties, completing the 2025 edition, and remains a consistent presence on the European mountain trail circuit across a career spanning dozens of events.
