About
Igor Gotsuliak is a Ukrainian ultrarunner and software developer who became internationally known after a dramatic near-miss at the 2021 Badwater 135 — the 217-kilometre race across California's Death Valley in temperatures approaching 50°C — where he led by 36 minutes with 25 miles remaining before being overhauled by Harvey Lewis in the closing stages, finishing second in 26:35:08. He had earlier that year won the Ohio Backyard Ultra in March 2021, and subsequently placed second at the Ultrabalaton in Hungary in 19:37:39. His ability to compete at the front of some of the world's most gruelling ultra events, representing Ukraine on the international stage, has made him one of the most recognised Ukrainian ultrarunners in the global endurance community.
