About
Ian Hammett is a British ultrarunner, sports scientist, and occupational health and fitness manager from Bedford who emerged on the UK ultra scene in 2015 and quickly became one of its most consistent performers across hundred-mile, ultra-distance, and multi-day events. Holding a BSc in Sports Science and more than 20 years of experience in the fitness industry, he has balanced a professional career with competitive ultra racing at the national and international level. His standout results include winning the Thames Path 100 in 2019, second at the South Downs Way 100 in 2016 (15:46), winning the SVP 100km in 2016, and completing the Centurion Canal Races Slam in 2022 — winning all three events in the series. He has twice completed Spartathlon — the 246km Athens-to-Sparta fixed-time race — finishing in 28:36:58 on his debut in 2017 and placing sixth in 2019. He documents his racing on his blog at RunHammyRun.
