About

Hans Troyer is an American trail runner from Newnan, Georgia — the middle child of three brothers, educated at Trinity Christian School — who earned a scholarship to Augusta University's Division II cross country programme, where he helped the Jaguars win four consecutive Peach Belt Conference titles and earn multiple NCAA National Championship appearances from 2018 to 2023, and still holds the school record for the 3,000-metre steeplechase. After graduating he worked at Fleet Feet in Georgia, running multiple 120-mile weeks through summer heat and humidity before completing a 50-mile run around his parents' property and pivoting fully to ultramarathons. The results that followed were immediate: wins at Bandera 100k and Way Too Cool 50k, then in October 2024 the national title at the USATF 50 Mile Road Championship in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania in 5:16:14 — shattering the course record by nearly twelve minutes on a route with over 5,000 feet of elevation gain. In 2025 he won the JFK 50 Mile in the second-fastest time in the race's history, finished second at the Canyons by UTMB 100k to earn a Golden Ticket to Western States, placed eighth at the Western States 100 in his 100-mile debut (16:06:52), and opened 2026 with the men's course record at the Black Canyon 100k. Ranked fifth in the 2025 Ultra Runner of the Year standings at only 25 years old, Troyer is one of the fastest-rising talents in recent American ultrarunning history.
