About

Hanny Allston is an Australian trail runner, orienteering world champion, author, and performance coach who grew up on the outskirts of Hobart, Tasmania. Born on 12 February 1986, she built one of the most remarkable athletic careers in Australian endurance sport across orienteering, marathon running, mountain running, skyrunning, and ultra-trail. At the 2006 World Orienteering Championships in Denmark, at just 20 years old, she won both the junior and senior world titles in the same year — making her the first and only athlete in history, male or female, to simultaneously hold both titles, and the first non-European ever to win a senior World Orienteering Championship. She subsequently won Australian national titles in marathon, mountain running, skyrunning, and trail running. In Tasmania she set multiple FKTs including Federation Peak (43.1 km, 11:26), Frenchmans Cap (45 km, 6:20), the Western Arthurs Traverse (59 km, 10:30), and the South Coast Track (91.8 km, 12:20). In 2009 she founded Find Your Feet, an award-winning Tasmanian company specialising in international trail running experiences, peak-performance coaching, and outdoor retail, which won the Telstra Small Business of the Year in 2018. She is the author of The Trail Running Guidebook and her autobiography Finding My Feet.
