About
Gianluca Galeati is an Italian ultrarunner from Imola, born in 1983, and one of his country's most decorated competitors at the longest distances in trail running. He came to running in 2007 after a youth spent playing football, quickly developing a passion for mountain terrain and ultra-distance events. His first major target was UTMB Mont-Blanc, which he completed in 2011, before finding his spiritual home in the Tor des Géants — the gruelling 330 km, 24,000 m elevation-gain race through Italy's Aosta Valley. Over at least nine starts at the Tor he achieved second overall in 2015 as the top Italian finisher, seventh in 2014 also as first Italian, and fifth in 2023 in 72 hours 16 minutes. A Hoka One One team athlete since 2019 and winner of the CIMA TAUFFI TRAIL outright in 2024, Galeati describes himself as a mountain lover and is a father of two daughters, Cecilia and Bianca. He remains one of Italy's most recognisable and beloved ultra-trail figures.
