About
George Knight is one of the most exciting emerging talents in Australian ultrarunning — a 21-year-old originally from Umina Beach on the Central Coast of New South Wales, now based in Tasmania while balancing university study with a professional-grade race calendar. Largely self-coached and without a social media presence, his reputation has spread entirely through race results and word of mouth. In 2025 alone he claimed victories at the Jervis Bay 100 km, the Wonderland 50 km in the Grampians, and Peaks & Trails in the Grampians, displaying versatility across distances. His national breakthrough came at the GPT 100 Miler at the 2025 Grampians Peaks Trail event, where he ran stride-for-stride with American international Caleb Olson for over 50 kilometres before finishing second overall in 23:16:07 — simultaneously claiming the Australian Miler Championship and moving to number one in the world U23 100-mile rankings. His volunteer ethic — helping mark courses and welcome international elites before competing against them — has made him one of the sport's most admired new characters.
